Four Days of Difference

It’s amazing the impact a small group of people can have over just a few days!

Each time a project team comes to work with Seeds of Hope, we’re blown away by the amount they accomplish and the depth of the relationships they form with our community. Last month, a group from North Point Ministries visited, and they were no exception.

In just four days, they staffed a medical clinic that saw over 350 patients, gave 50 ultrasounds, distributed medicine to 287 people, and gave out over 75,000 vitamins. At the same time, they hosted a spa that gave over 300 facials, manicures, and pedicures. That’s over 750 people cared for both physically and emotionally by connecting with Seeds of Hope.

But these numbers are just the beginning. While the medical clinic and spa saw hundreds of people, part of the team spent several days on a construction project that made a world of difference for one family.

Fayzeh first got involved with Seeds of Hope almost nine years ago. She was in a challenging season of life, and a friend recommended that she reach out to us. Over time, she got involved in our women’s programs.

The time I spent with the Seeds of Hope women’s program was my rescue,” Fayzeh told us. “I found out that there was hope. I became friends with the other women. The respect, appreciation, and humility I received from Seeds of Hope were so rare. It helped me to change my life.

Our programs impacted Fayzeh so significantly that she began to volunteer. She is now an assistant coach in our women’s fitness classes, and two of her daughters found work in our daycare and kindergarten. They are truly a part of the Seeds of Hope family.

Earlier this year, Fayzeh experienced a devasting emergency in the home she shares with several of her children and grandchildren. Her six-month-old grandchild was asleep in one of the bedrooms when an electrical fire broke out. After a frightening few minutes, a neighbor was able to help them rescue the child. Miraculously, everyone survived, but the house was in shambles.

Without the resources to rebuild, Fayzeh and her family were able to make one room of the house habitable. For several months, eight people have shared that one room, surrounded by reminders of the fire.

Last month, the project team from North Point worked to restore more of the house and give them more living space. They were able to fix some of the electrical issues, paint, and make needed repairs. Now the family has a little more space, a little more privacy, and a little more hope that things can get better.

“If Seeds of Hope did not fix the bedroom for us, it may have stayed like that forever,” Fayzeh told us. “For three of four months, nobody except Seeds of Hope has offered to help or knocked on our door. The house looks so much better, and I love Seeds of Hope even more.”

We’re so humbled by the impact this team made in their time visiting Seeds of Hope. Trips like this perfectly represent the depth and breadth of our outreach to the community. Whether it’s something as small as providing vitamins to a child or as big as giving a family a safe place to sleep at night, your support makes a difference in our community every single day.
