Over the last week, so many of you have reached out to check in, share your prayers, and let us know you’re thinking about Seeds of Hope. We’re so grateful for that support as we navigate this time of uncertainty. I wanted to reach out to our Seeds of Hope family to provide an update and two tangible ways you can help.
We’re grateful that we’ve been able to care for our children, families, and staff during this time. As news broke of the violence and threats in the West Bank, we immediately tried to ensure everyone was safe and healthy. Right now, we are working under unimaginable stress and looming fear, but our programs are still running, and we’re continuing to serve and love our city.
In times like these, we want to look for ways to be a blessing. Jericho and the surrounding areas rely heavily on tourism and outside visitors to support the local economy, so instantly, people are in need and will be for some time. Many cities have also shut down roads to travel, which has already started to create supply shortages that may continue to impact families. This is one way we know we can help.
We’re putting together an emergency food distribution to help provide families with the staples they need to keep food on the table. Especially in the camps around Jericho, a simple box of food staples can go a long way, and while we’re praying for a swift end to this situation, we’re preparing for the long haul.
As we wait to see how things unfold, there are two significant ways that you can support us and our community right now:
1. Pray with us.
Your prayers and messages have already encouraged us, but we ask that you continue to keep all of the Holy Land in your prayers. We’re praying for peace. We’re praying that not one more life is lost. We’re praying for wisdom for leaders across the world to help bring this violence to an end.
For those in Jericho, we’re praying for continued safety and for inner peace and comfort in the face of mounting frustration and fear. We pray that Seeds of Hope can continue to be a light in the midst of darkness and a help in difficult times.
2. Donate to our food distribution.
One of the most tangible ways you can make a difference is by helping us with our food distribution. We would love to support as many families as possible since we don’t know how long this situation will last. You can give through our website, or if you or your church would like to arrange a special gift, please reach out.
There’s so much we don’t know right now about how long this violence will last or how it will impact us all long term. Our hearts are broken at the loss of life and violence around us. But we will continue to cling to hope and look for ways to share it with those around us. Thank you for supporting us from around the world and praying with us.
